College sports are different from professional sports because of what the players play for, the rules of the game, and the referees. The first thing that makes college sports different to professional sports is what the players play for. In college sports the athletes usually play for their fans/schools, their reputation, and for the national championship. The athletes play for their fans because they want to make them happy, so they will keep coming to the games. They play for their reputation because if they play good then the professional teams might want them. In professional sports the athletes usually play for money.

This makes the college coach look like a great coach, so it works out both ways. The professional players want more and more money as they get better and start to play more often. The second thing that makes college sports different from professional sports is the rules of the game. Most of the rules for college sports are the same as the rules for professional sports. There are only one or two things different for the two. For instance in college football they only need one foot in bounds when catching a pass; in professional football they need both feet in bounds when catching a pass.

In college the three point lines are different than the ones in the NBA. Other than that the rules are pretty much the same. The third and final thing that makes college sports different from professional sports is their referees. Each sport in college has a referee for every game that is played. Professional sports have a different number of referees than college sports do. Professional sports have three or four referees at the games. College sports usually have two or three referees at the games. The two aren’t that different but they are different in numbers.

In conclusion, College sports are the different from professional sports because of what the players are playing for, their rules, and the referees. College sports really aren’t that similar to professional sports. In reality they are pretty much the opposite from each other. The professional level is one step higher than college. The college level gets the players ready for the professional level. So the next time one of your friends says college sports are similar to professional sports say “Hey” they aren’t that similar.
