Archipelago


a large group of islands
Oasis
a small fertile area surrounded by desert
Atoll
a ring like coral island and reef that nearly or entirely encloses a lagoon
Strait
a narrow channel joining two larger bodies of water
Gulf
a large area of sea or ocean partially enclosed by land, especially a long landlocked portion opening through a strait
Island
a piece of land surrounded by water
Lake
a large inland body of fresh water or salt water
Harbor/Port
a naturally or artificially protected body of water where ships may be anchored 
Bay
a body of water partially enclosed by land but with a mouth and allowing access to the sea
Tributary 
a stream that flows into a larger stream or other body of water 
Cape
a pointed piece of land that sticks out into a body of water
Isthmus
a narrow strip of land connecting two larger masses of land
Canal
an artificial waterway or artificially improved river used for travel, shipping, or irrigation
Delta
a low watery land formed at the mouth of a river from the silt, sand, and small rocks that flow downstream
Desert
a very dry area, often sandy, with little rainfall, extreme temperatures, and little vegetation
